This level is a necessary requirement for students who have no previous experience in the Iyengar method of yoga. Basic poses are taught with emphasis on developing balance, strength and flexibility. Students will be taught relaxation skills that can be used on and off the mat.
This level allows students to enlarge their repertoire of poses, and continue to delve into the other limbs of yoga including pranayama and dhyana (breath control and meditation). Shoulderstand is a regular part of the practice at this level.
At this level, more challenging poses are introduced to students who are capable of deeper, more refined work. Headstand is part of this deepening work. A regular home practice is expected.
Classes are run as 7 or 8 week sessions. Fees are based on registering for the full session. All fees include GST.

- If you miss your regularly scheduled class, you are welcome to make it up in another class, space permitting.
- Missed classes must be made up in the 8 week session in which you are registered. Class fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- To ensure quality instruction, class size is limited to 24 students.
What to Wear
Yoga is practiced in bare feet. Wear comfortable clothing and refrain from eating 2 hours before class. In consideration of students with allergies, please refrain from wearing scented products to class.
